GAAD 2022: Considering Accessibility for People with Cognitive Disabilities

**The Discussion**
In honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2022, Queen City Bytes and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library are presenting an awareness building session about the barriers faced by people with cognitive disabilities when using a website or application. We will discuss the following topics:

* introduction to Global Accessibility Awareness Day
* visible vs invisible disabilities
* cognitive disabilities diagnoses such as ADHD, Dyslexia, brain injury, Autism, and aging
* eight objectives for making content usable for people with cognitive disabilities
* the impact of Long Covid

**About the Speaker**
Louise Clark transitioned to a career in technology after spending a decade teaching Latin American history at universities in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region. In her current role at US Bank, Louise is a UX Digital Consultant who assists design teams with techniques and strategies to create in a manner that is inclusive and centers the needs of people with disabilities.

Queen City Bytes is partnering with Charlotte Mecklenburg Library to help our audience identify career paths they may wish to pursue in the technology space.
