Intro to Agile: A day in the life

February 11 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

What does a “typical” day for a software engineer look like? To find out, we’re going to spend a day with one (compressed into 45 minutes). You may be surprised at how little time is spent alone in front of a keyboard and screenful of code.
As the day progresses, we’ll meet a product owner, a designer, a customer service rep, and others, to get a hint of what their days are like too.
This “typical” day is a mash-up of real events that Patrick experienced as a software engineer at a handful of different companies over the years.

11:30 – 12:15: A day in the life
12:15 – 12:30: Q&A

Patrick is a Charlotte native (South Meck / Providence). As the only kid in the neighborhood whose family owned a computer but not a Ninendo, he taught himself how to code so he could make his own games. That was three decades ago and he’s been hooked ever since. He’s spent most of his career as a software developer / engineer / architect interspersed by brief stints as a scrum master, product owner, and people manager, specializing in front end web development. He’s had the opportunity to work in companies ranging from 5 to 200,000 employees and everywhere in between. His current role is a Web Front End Architect at Walgreens where he’s helping with an initiative that will serve communities better by adding Health Corners to the stores. With six kids aged 10 – 20 he and his wife Jaclyn are never, ever bored.

Queen City Bytes is partnering with Charlotte Mecklenburg Library to help our audience identify career paths they may wish to pursue in the technology space.

We will update this meetup event with the virtual link the evening before this meetup takes place. It will be recorded for those unable to attend.
