In this exploration of inclusive workplace communication, “Seeking to Understand: How to Truly Make People Feel Heard and Respected in the Workplace,” we delve into the importance of active listening and respect in fostering an inclusive and productive work environment. The class stresses the value of understanding people’s individual communication needs and translating them into our language. By understanding someone’s communication needs we can ensure that every employee feels valued and understood and that the best ideas in the company are put forth. We will stress points like Psychological safety and Inclusive outreach.

Bio:
Experienced Marriage and Family Therapist in Social Services and Project Management now tackling Culture in the workplace
Mike O’Muireadhaigh is a versatile professional with a rich background in social services, project management, and human resources, with a specific focus on Marriage and Family Therapy. His career journey reflects a steadfast commitment to community service and organizational excellence.

Beginning his career in New York City’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Mike rapidly gained invaluable experience in high-pressure situations. He later contributed to creating a supportive environment at the Gillium Detention Facility in Denver.
Mike’s passion for education led him to work with special education students in the Aurora Public Schools, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

With a knack for project management, Mike excelled at both Aurora Public Schools and Developmental Pathways, ensuring the successful execution of complex initiatives. MIke changed careers to move into a Director of CUlture role at OrthoFi a software company in Denver where is is able to apply his people first philosophy to the work force.
Beyond his professional roles, Mike holds SHRM certification in Human Resources and expertise in Alternative Dispute Resolution. His deep understanding of mental health issues led to a role on the state’s licensing board (DORA), where he influenced legislative decisions.

Academically accomplished, Mike holds an undergraduate degree in Behavioral and Social Sciences and a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from NYIT.
In his personal life, Mike is happily married and is a devoted parent his middle school child.
