Robotics Competition – FIRST® Tech Challenge Qualifying Events

January 14, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 5:30 pm

A part of NC FTC robotics competition tournament events – hosted by Queen City Robotics Alliance and its member teams.

In FIRST® Tech Challenge, small teams of students ages 12-18 design, build, code, and operate robots to compete in thrilling competitions. Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles while realizing the value of innovation and teamwork. The robot kit is reusable from year to year and can be coded using a variety of programming languages. Students are encouraged to create team brands and be an ambassador for FIRST and STEM in their communities.

Participants and alumni are eligible to apply for more than $80 million in scholarships and access career discovery opportunities and connections. FIRST Tech Challenge is one of three FIRST® programs helping to develop the next generation of leaders and innovators. For more on FTC programs, watch: About FIRST Tech Challenge

About Queen City Robotics Alliance

Started as a single robotics team in 2011, Queen City Robotics Alliance (QCRA) was registered as a 501(c)3 non-profit in 2014. Today, QCRA serves over 200 students on 14 teams. We deliver interactive programs to hundreds of students, with public events reaching upward of 5,000 annually.

Our teams use the FIRST® robotics program where students build robots to compete in team events. This is a sport “where everyone can turn pro”. Each team runs like a business to inspire, equip, and prepare students way beyond robots.

* FIRST = For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology
